Who’s in Charge: You or Your Money Story? | Episode 48

Whether we’re aware of it or not, we all have a money story. What you were taught about money as a child has a massive influence on your decisions and choices today. Side Note: Final episode!

A survey by Wells Fargo (an American bank) and Ipsos (a market research company) revealed that over 40% of respondents would rather talk about their parents' deaths than their financial situations.

Which is wild—but Julia can definitely relate to this (a typical recovering Avoider, one of the four personality types).

Money is all around us, and it’s nearly impossible to live without it for long while maintaining freedom of choice.

Just try paying your bills with love and see what happens. The way you feel about money—whether confident or insecure—is shaped by everything you observed as a child.

How your parents and grandparents talked about money, their attitudes toward it, and the messages you picked up along the way all play a role.

Perhaps you heard phrases like “money is the root of all evil” or “rich people are greedy.” As a result, you may subconsciously believe that being broke is safer than risking rejection from your loved ones. Even if this doesn’t make logical sense, it’s the reality for so many people.

In this episode, we’ll discuss:

  • Our money stories and how they shape our lives

  • How to rewrite your money story for a better future

  • Symptoms of limiting beliefs around money

  • The difference between an abundance and scarcity mindset

If you’ve ever struggled with money and don’t understand why you keep repeating the same patterns, this episode is for you.

A Special Note
